Scientific Collaboration On Past Speciation Conditions in Lake Ohrid

2006     brd

In 2006, the focus was on analytical studies of the sediment sequences recovered in 2005. The sediment cores indicated that Lake Ohrid is an excellent archive of long-term (glacial and interglacial cycles) and short-term (e.g. Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age) climate events in the northern Mediterranean region. Moreover, several tephras in the sediment sequence confirm that the lake is a good archive of eruptions from Italian volcanoes.
